Dorf Allendorf

Dorf Allendorf is located east of the city centre, south of the Werra, on the national road 1121 and the federal road 62. The district covers an area of 280 hectares. Dorf Allendorf was incorporated into Bad Salzungen in 1950, however, it belonged to the urban core first and only became an independent district in 2014. After the local elections in 2014, Dorf Allendorf got its first disctrict mayor and district council. The district is committed to its own events and to continuing and reviving old traditions.

Ettenhausen an der Suhl

Ettenhausen an der Suhl is a district of Bad Salzungen since July 2018 and is located approximately 10 kilometres north of the urban core, at the foot of thuringian forest in the Suhltal. The small settlement of Hetzeberg belongs to Ettenhausen. The fortified church of Ettenhausen, a former fortress church, is the most famous building of the disctrict. In ist core are several historically protected timbered houses. At the borders of the area with Weißendiez, several historical boundary markers can be found. Frauensee

On the 6th of July 2018, Frauensee was incorporated into the town of Bad Salzungen. The Frauensee district includes Frauensee, the village of Springen and the small settlements of Knottenhof, Möllersgrund and Schergeshof.   A walk through the village Frauensee is nestled in green forests and meadows in a side valley of the Werra between the Thuringian Forest and the Rhön. Hohleborn

The district of Hohleborn is about four kilometres from the centre of Bad Salzungen and two kilometres from the disctrict of Langenfeld. Hohleborn is a village and agricultural town. About 50 people live here on an area of 149 hectares. In the immediate vicinity of Hohleborn lies the "Hundskopf", a popular destination for hikers. A cycle and hiking trail to the "Hundskopf" leads through the village. The village, which can be traced back to a farm complex, was first mentioned in a document on the 1st of December 1312. Kaltenborn

Kaltenborn extends - about three kilometres away from Bad Salzung's city centre - over an area of about 372 hectares. The Wildprechtroda district is about one kilometre away, and the Langenfeld district is about 500 metres away. Kaltenborn was incorporated after Bad Salzungen in 1974. In the northern part of Kaltenborn lie the so-called "Sorghöfe". These are divided into the Obersorghof, the Untersorghof and the buildings around the courtyards. Kloster

The district Kloster in the north of the town Bad Salzungen, below the artificial ruin Burg Frankenstein, looks back on a long and historically valuable history, which is centred around the former monastery, the Frankenstein or the old brewery. Kloster was incorporated into Bad Salzungen in 1950 and celebrated its 750th anniversary in 2016. Remains of the medieval nunnery, from which the district got its name, can still be seen today. Langenfeld

Langenfeld was incorporated into Bad Salzungen in 1974. The village stretches over 1520 hectares in a south-westerly direction of the core town of Bad Salzungen and forms the connection to the Rhön in a southerly direction via the B285, for example to Kaltennordheim or Dermbach. The district got a sports field with a sports home and a community centre, which resides in the former old school. Just like the Kloster district, Langenfelds got a very lively club life. For example, the Männergesangsverein, a carnival club and a sports club can be found here. Langenfeld is also home to the young "Ober der Brück" industrial estate, which is constantly being expanded.

Oberrohn

Oberrohn is located about four kilometres north-northwest of Bad Salzungen and three kilometres east of Tiefenort as the crow flies. Since the area reform of 1994, the town has belonged to Tiefenort until Tiefenort was incorporated into Bad Salzungen on the 6th of July 2018.   Changing history Old documents show that Oberrohn (at that time still called Oberrod), in a deed of donation of Countess Ahlbrot dated 21 July 1058, was awarded to the monastery of Fulda. Tiefenort

Tiefenort (Diffeshardt) has been a district of Bad Salzungen since 2018. The village covers an area of 34.79 square kilometres and included the districts of Dönges, Hämbach, Oberrohn with the settlements Hüttenhof and Röhrigshof, Unterrohn and Weißendiez. The village was first mentioned in a document in 1137 - from the Bad Hersfeld monastery. The development of the village and the lives of its inhabitants were closely linked to and largely dependent on the Krayenburg. The owners of the castle were the lords of Frankenstein. Wildprechtroda

Wildprechtroda has been a district of Bad Salzung since 1950. The village lies southeast of the core town Bad Salzungen at the Werra tributary Pfitzbach on an area of 166 hectares. The centre of the district is formed by the castle, the church and the village community centre, the outer façade of which was designed in 2017 with a large-scale graffiti with a village character. In addition, the village square was renovated in the same year. In Wildprechtroda there is the town cemetery "An den Eichäckern", which extends over an area of 5.5 hectares and has been in use since 2000.
