twin town of Bad Salzungen
The northern Hungarian town of Mezökövesd has been the twin town of Bad Salzungen since the 13th of August 1969.
Like Bad Salzungen, Mezökövesd is a spa and health resort. The town, with 16,000 inhabitants, has deposits of lithium and sulphurous medicinal springs with a temperature of 72°C. The town is also a health resort. These are particularly suitable for the treatment of gynaecological and rheumatic diseases.
Art in all its forms
The municipal gallery houses works of art by the two outstanding painters Istavan Takacs and Jozsef Dala and the ceramist Janos Papp. In Mezökövesd you can also visit the Embroidery Museum and the Weaving Museum. As the large church is a monument of art, it is worth visiting it.
Mezökövesd is located in a wine-growing area. The nearby Bükk Moutains are scenic.
