In Bad Salzungen a variety of events take place throughout the year and attract visitors from near and far to the salt city. These are the highlights:

Culture on the spot!

In this series of events, sons and daughters of the city who are creatively active in Bad Salzungen, throughout Germany or internationally, present their art at home.

A selection of previous events:

• Producer Philipp Rappsilber showed short films in the cinema centre. Production: Film University Babelsberg KONRAD WOLF.
• The former music student Michael Haupt and his band "Joern and The Michaels" played a kickjazz concert in the „Haunscher Hof“ as part of the Long Night of Domestic Music.
• The „Theater Mittendrin“ showed "Der gestiefelte Kater" with city daughter Barbara Gottwald.
• Artist Holger Rübsam opened his exhibition "painted songs" in the „Museum am Gradierwerk“ with a live performance.

Carnival

Helau! At the 11th of November and at the rose Monday at 11:11, the jesters of the six carnival associations of Bad Salzungen pick up the scepter at the market plaza. A spectacle you shouldn’t miss! All other carnival events can be found in our event calendar.

City festival Bad Salzungen

Experience one of the biggest and most popular steadfasts of the entire region in June/July.

Stars and starlets from the music industry will present themselves on four stages over three days. Artists such as Silly, the Original Naabtal Duo, Alphaville, Michael Wendler, The Lords, Ute Freudenberg, Housegroover and many more have already been guests.

Also visit the traditional parade of the clubs, the children's festival and the sports programme.

Asklepios lake festival

Celebrate three days in August with us at the most beautiful place of the city - the Lake Burgsee! Enjoy music and dance in the open air in the evenings.

Especially spectacular: The fireworks display "Lake in Flames" on Saturday evening. The Lake Festival ends on Sunday afternoon with a children's, health and sports programme.

Adventure day

On the 2nd Sunday in September the day of the open monument takes place all over Germany. In Bad Salzungen this day has become a fixed date in the cultural calendar.

On the adventure day you will have access to a dozen historically interesting places and experience a varied programme in the spa and district town. The „Solewelt“ presents its offers.

In addition, the Trade and Commerce Association invites you to a large children's party in the city centre. The city's traders come up with unusual activities for the young visitors and their families on Sunday when the shops are open.

Light festival

Night owls watch out! In October of each year, the Handels- und Gewerbeverein invites you to marvel and shop in the city centre. The market square and alleys are bathed in colourful light illuminations. Music, best gastronomic supply and great offers of the dealers lure countless visitors to the shopping stroll until 22 o'clock.
