Ishoj / Denmark

twin town of Bad Salzungen

The Danish town of Ishoj has been the twin town of Bad Salzungen since the 31st of October 1994. It is located on the Baltic Sea, near the capital Copenhagen - a 47 km long cycle path, called the "Green Gate to Copenhagen", connects the two cities. There is also an excellent connection to Copenhagen by S-train.

Holiday and cultural city

Around 21,000 people live in the city, which invites you to vacation all year round: The seven-kilometre-long beach park is a wonderful place to stroll and visit the Museum of Modern Art on the Beach ("Arche").

In the area of the beach park there is a harbour. Also the Ishoj zoo, whose area once belonged to the royal hunting grounds, is worth a visit.

The only skyscraper in the area is the Ishoj Bycenter. There are alleys, squares and a multitude of shops and restaurants under one roof - as well as an indoor swimming pool, the library, the town hall, a hotel and a tourist information centre.

As Ishoj is a distinct cultural city, many events take place all year round.
