Bad Hersfeld
twin town of Bad Salzungen
Bad Hersfeld - since the 3rd of March 1990 the twin town of Bad Salzungen - is the district town of the district of Hersfeld/Rotenburg in East Hesse. The town lies in the valleys of the Fulda and Haune, between Kassel and Fulda, in a wooded area.
Festival and Language
In the city of 30,000 inhabitants, the service industry is very pronounced. The Romanesque ruins of the monastery are the venue of the annual festival. Konrad Duden lived in Bad Hersfeld and was director of the royal grammar school. For this reason, Bad Hersfeld is closely associated with the publication of the orthographic dictionary. The interactive exhibition "rich in words" also testifies to this.
